HTE CNG Price and Specs, Kia Carens Clavis

The HTE CNG is the cheapest way to run a Carens Clavis on gas. At ₹12.39 lakh ex-showroom it costs exactly ₹1 lakh more than the petrol HTE, and the CNG kit is fitted at the factory. The 1.5 litre engine makes 95 bhp and 123.2 Nm on CNG and drives the front wheels through a 6 speed manual.

You get a 60 litre CNG cylinder plus the regular 45 litre petrol tank, with a switch to change between the two. Kia quotes the cylinder in water equivalent, which is its inside volume, not the weight of gas it holds. The 4.2 inch colour display in the cluster also shows how far you can still go on CNG. You can have it in six colours, including Clear White and Pewter Olive.

Inside, this is a basic car. There is no touchscreen and no reverse camera, only rear parking sensors, and it rides on 16 inch steel wheels with covers. Safety is not cut, though, with six airbags, stability control, hill start assist and disc brakes on all four wheels. Kia's brochure gives no CNG mileage figure, so ask your dealer about real running costs. If you want a screen and a camera, the HTE (O) CNG adds both for ₹96,000 more.
