The Signature manual sits a big step above the Classic and opens up the well equipped part of the Slavia range. It shares the 1.0 litre TSI with 114 bhp and 178 Nm, driving the front wheels through a manual. Five seats and a claimed 20.32 kmpl round it out.

The jump in price buys real kit. You get a larger 25.6 cm (10.1 inch) touchscreen, a rear view camera, an electric sunroof and R16 Radim alloy wheels. Six airbags carry over for safety. What it does not add over the Classic is the 360 degree camera, which the Sportline and higher trims bring.

Pick the Signature manual if you want the sunroof, alloys and big screen without paying for the sportier trims. It is a sensible, well rounded middle choice for most private buyers. If you prefer an automatic for city traffic, the Signature AT offers the same features with an automatic gearbox.
