The You is the entry point to the Citroen Basalt range at ₹8.55 lakh. It uses a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol making 82 PS and 115 Nm, sending drive to the front wheels through a manual gearbox. This is the cheapest route into the Basalt, with five seats and a claimed 18.0 kmpl.

The naturally aspirated engine keeps the price down, but it gives up the turbo's stronger pull and its higher 19.5 kmpl economy. As the base trim, the You sits below the Plus and Max, so it carries the least kit in the range. It is a straightforward, no-frills starting point.

Pick the You if your budget is tight and most of your driving is slow city running. The 82 PS engine copes fine with light loads but feels stretched when the car is full.
