The Honda City specifications split neatly into two camps, petrol and hybrid. Both share a 1.5 litre displacement of 1498 cc, but they are tuned very differently. The petrol makes 121 PS at 6600 rpm, and the e:HEV hybrid makes 126 PS with far more torque.
Gearboxes follow the engines. The petrol offers a six speed manual or a seven step CVT, while the hybrid uses a dedicated e-CVT. The hybrid also brings 253 Nm of instant motor torque, which is why it feels lively in town. The petrol's 145 Nm arrives higher up the rev range.

Dimensions favour comfort. At 4594 mm long on a 2600 mm wheelbase, the City frees up generous rear knee room. That long wheelbase is the source of its class-leading rear space. The 506 litre boot handles family holidays, and the 40 litre tank stretches the range between fills. A 165 mm ground clearance copes with most speed breakers.
