Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S is a seven seat SUV that runs only on battery power. It uses INGLO, the same electric platform as the BE 6 and XEV 9e, but swaps their sloping roofs for a tall, upright body with three real rows. Mahindra says it was India's highest selling EV from July to September 2026, with 13,275 sold.

You choose from three batteries. The 59 kWh pack is rated at 521 km, the 70 kWh at 600 km and the 79 kWh at 679 km on the MIDC test. One rear motor makes 228 to 282 bhp depending on the battery, and every version gets the same 380 Nm. Check the range by battery if long trips matter to you.

There are four packs: One Above, Two Above, Three and Three Above. One Above is a seven seater only, while the other three also come with two captain chairs in the middle row for ₹20,000 more. That gives ten versions from ₹20.65 lakh to ₹30.15 lakh ex-showroom. Compare the ten XEV 9S versions to see what each pack adds.

Space is the main reason to buy one. The cabin sits on a 2,762 mm wheelbase, and the third row splits 50:50 and reclines. Mahindra quotes a 527 litre boot with the third row folded, plus a 150 litre front trunk for charging cables and small bags. Ground clearance is 205 mm, and the 10 m turning circle helps in tight lanes.

Every XEV 9S has a panoramic sunroof that opens, three 31.24 cm screens across the dashboard, six airbags and stability control. Level 2 ADAS arrives from Pack Two Above.
