Maruti Suzuki has exported more than 50,000 e Vitara electric SUVs since shipments began in August 2025, the company said on 29 October.

The e Vitara is Maruti's only electric car and is built at a single plant, Hansalpur in Gujarat. It now goes to about 50 countries, among them the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Europe took the first cars and is still the biggest buyer.

Citing figures from industry body SIAM, Maruti said it shipped nearly 93% of the electric passenger vehicles India exported between April and September 2026.

How the Exports Built Up

Maruti has given three running totals since the first shipment.

The first batch sailed from Pipavav port in Gujarat. It went to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Maruti had passed 25,000 units by the start of April, about eight months after shipments began. By late October the total had doubled. The number of destinations grew more slowly, from 44 in April to about 50.

Japan joined the list in September 2025. By mid-September this year, combined shipments of the e Vitara, Jimny five-door and Fronx to Japan had passed 1 lakh units.

One Plant Builds Them All

Every e Vitara sold anywhere comes from Hansalpur, which Maruti calls the exclusive production base for Suzuki's first global electric vehicle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the start of production there on 26 August 2025.

The site's capacity rose to 10 lakh vehicles a year in July, when a fourth plant at Hansalpur started work. That plant is building the e Vitara first.

The Same SUV on Sale in India

Indian deliveries began on 17 February 2026, six months after exports started. Maruti sells three versions of the e Vitara through its NEXA showrooms.

The 543 km figure for the 61 kWh battery is ARAI certified. Maruti's battery-as-a-service plan starts at ₹10.99 lakh for the Delta, plus a battery EMI of ₹3.99 per km. That per km figure assumes 60 km of driving a day and excludes charging costs.

Maruti gives the battery an 8 year or 1,60,000 km warranty, whichever comes first. The e Vitara, built on Suzuki's HEARTECT-e platform for electric cars, received a five-star Bharat NCAP rating in December 2025. Every version has seven airbags.

Maruti does not publish the e Vitara's sales in India on its own. Its monthly sales tables count it among utility vehicles, so the export total is the only volume figure Maruti gives for the model.

Exports Beyond the e Vitara

Maruti said it now exports 16 models in all, reaching nearly 120 countries, and handled more than half of India's passenger vehicle exports from April to September 2026. Hansalpur alone accounted for nearly half of its overseas shipments in the year to March 2026.
