Mercedes' Electric GLC Arrives at ₹78.5 Lakh, Barely Above Its Petrol Sibling
One version, a 94 kWh battery and twice the torque of the GLC 300 petrol. How it compares on size, charging and price with the rest of Mercedes' EVs in India.

Mercedes-Benz India has priced the electric GLC from ₹78,50,000, only ₹1,50,000 more than the petrol and diesel GLC. The battery-electric SUV made its India debut on 4 November and is sold in a single specification, the GLC 400 4MATIC.
That gap is the story. The carmaker lists the petrol and diesel GLC from ₹77,00,000, so the electric model costs about 2% more. Set against the GLC 300 petrol, it has twice the torque and reaches 100 km/h 1.9 seconds sooner.
Battery, Range and Charging
Two electric motors drive all four wheels. Between them they make 489 hp (360 kW) and 800 Nm, enough, the company claims, for 4.3 seconds from rest to 100 km/h. Top speed is 210 km/h.
The battery holds 94 kWh of usable energy. The quoted range is up to 711 km on the WLTP test cycle, and no MIDC figure is listed on the Indian website.
The car accepts up to 330 kW from a DC fast charger, at which a 10 to 80% charge takes 22 minutes. Slower public chargers will take longer, the company notes.
Buyers also get either a wall-mounted AC charger kit or 2,500 kWh of charging credit valid for two years. Mercedes pairs the offer with MB.CHARGE Public, its charging service, which it says covers more than 22,000 charging points in India.
Against the Petrol GLC
Mercedes says the electric GLC sits on a dedicated electric platform, and it differs from the petrol model in size as well as speed.
| Specification | Electric GLC 400 4MATIC | Petrol GLC 300 4MATIC |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 489 hp | 258 hp + 23 hp |
| Torque | 800 Nm | 400 Nm |
| Top speed | 210 km/h | 240 km/h |
| 0 to 100 km/h | 4.3 s | 6.2 s |
| Length | 4,856 mm | 4,716 mm |
| Width (body only) | 1,965 mm | 1,890 mm |
| Height | 1,652 mm | 1,640 mm |
| Boot | 570 litres, plus 128 litres up front | 620 litres |
| Turning circle | 12.1 m | 11.8 m |
The electric car is 140 mm longer and 75 mm wider, on a 2,972 mm wheelbase. Its main boot is 50 litres smaller, but the front boot under the bonnet lifts total luggage space to 698 litres. With the rear seats folded, the boot grows to 1,740 litres.
What the Single Version Includes
The equipment list includes AMG Line styling, Digital Light headlamps and an illuminated grille with up to 942 lit pixels. Inside, the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen joins three displays across the dashboard, and face recognition loads the driver's profile.
The SKY CONTROL glass roof turns from clear to opaque in nine separately controlled zones and carries 162 illuminated stars. A Burmester 3D sound system with 15 speakers and 670 watts supports Dolby Atmos.
The fourth-generation MBUX software has a built-in AI assistant. The car has Level 2 driver assistance, and Level 2+ functions such as Steering Assist can be added later through an over-the-air upgrade, according to the company. Comfort suspension with passive selective dampers is fitted.
Where It Sits in the Electric Line-up
| Model | Starting price |

| CLA Electric | ₹56,50,000 |
| Electric GLC | ₹78,50,000 |
| EQS | ₹1,30,00,000 |
| EQS SUV | ₹1,35,00,000 |
| Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV | ₹2,40,00,000 |
| Electric G-Class | ₹3,15,00,000 |
The GLC is now the cheapest SUV in Mercedes' Indian electric range, ₹56,50,000 below the EQS SUV. Only the CLA Electric sedan costs less.
Mercedes calls the listed figure an indicative price that can change with the options a buyer picks. The electric GLC's page on its Indian website gives no delivery dates and does not say where the car is built.
In its October sales release, the company had lined the GLC up as part of its Diwali offerings. Diwali falls on 8 November this year.
