October 2026 Car Sales: Maruti, Hyundai and Mahindra Set Records While Toyota Falls 27%
Passenger vehicle sales in India and exports for Maruti, Mahindra, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda and Renault, side by side against October 2025.

Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra all set monthly sales records in October 2026, while Toyota's sales in India fell 26.7%, according to the six carmakers that had published October figures by 2 November.
Honda grew in India but lost most of its exports. Renault sold slightly fewer vehicles than a year earlier, though its year so far is well ahead.
Sales in India, October 2026
| Carmaker | October 2026 | October 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maruti Suzuki | 2,12,384 | 1,76,318 | Up 20.5% |
| Mahindra | 73,338 | 71,624 | Up 2.4% |
| Hyundai | 62,799 | 53,792 | Up 16.7% |
| Toyota | 29,521 | 40,257 | Down 26.7% |
| Honda | 7,609 | 6,394 | Up 19.0% |
| Renault | 4,577 | 4,672 | Down 2.0% |
Maruti's figure counts cars, utility vehicles and the Eeco van but not its Super Carry truck. Mahindra's counts SUVs only, which is all it sells as passenger vehicles.
Among these six, Mahindra sold more passenger vehicles in India than Hyundai, by 10,539 units. This comparison does not include Tata Motors, Kia, MG or Skoda-Volkswagen.
Three Records
Maruti sold a record 2,76,120 vehicles in all, and its sales in India were also its highest for any month.
Hyundai's best month since it began operations came with 82,299 sales, including 13,017 of the Venue. Mahindra's 73,338 SUVs were a record too, though its growth was just 2.4%.
Exports Split the Field
| Carmaker | October 2026 | October 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maruti Suzuki | 49,872 | 31,304 | Up 59.3% |
| Hyundai | 19,500 | 16,102 | Up 21.1% |
| Mahindra | 7,102 | 4,015 | Up 76.9% |
| Toyota | 839 | 2,635 | Down 68.2% |
| Honda | 473 | 4,124 | Down 88.5% |
Honda's export slump turned a 19% rise at home into a 23% fall overall. Toyota's total fell 29.2%, as both its sales in India and its exports dropped.
Why the Comparisons Are Uneven
Last October was a strong month for most of these carmakers. It came straight after the GST cut on cars, which applied from 22 September 2025, and it included Diwali. With this year's Diwali on 8 November, the comparison with October 2025 works against this year's figures.
Renault, which counts sales by calendar year, has already passed its full 2025 total in ten months. November's figures will include Diwali for every carmaker.
