Tata Offers Four of the Eight CNG Automatic Cars on Sale in India
Tata builds four of India's eight CNG automatics: the Tiago, Aeris, Altroz and Punch. Maruti Suzuki makes three and Toyota one, with prices from ₹7.13 lakh.

Tata sells four of the eight CNG automatic cars available in India, the Tiago, Aeris, Altroz and Punch, based on the carmakers' official prices as of 22 October 2026.
Maruti Suzuki accounts for three, after adding an automatic to the CNG Swift, Dzire and Baleno on 18 September. Toyota's Glanza, the Baleno's twin, became the eighth on 15 October.
All eight pair a factory-fitted CNG kit with an AMT, a gearbox that shifts by itself and has no clutch pedal. Dealer-fitted retrofit kits, such as the ones Nissan offers for the Magnite and Gravite, are not counted.

Tata Covers Both Ends of the Price Range
The Tiago Pure CNG AMT is the cheapest CNG automatic on sale at ₹7,12,990 ex-showroom. That undercuts Maruti Suzuki's cheapest, the Swift VXi CNG AGS at ₹7,92,400, by ₹79,410.
The most expensive also comes from Tata: the Altroz Accomplished S CNG AMT at ₹10.90 lakh. Tata accounts for 17 of the 26 CNG automatic trims on the market. Only three trims cross ₹10 lakh: the Altroz Accomplished S, the Punch Accomplished + S and the Glanza G.
All four Tata models use the company's twin-cylinder iCNG system. On the Altroz, Tata says the cylinders sit below the luggage area, leaving 210 litres of boot space in CNG form against 345 litres for petrol and diesel versions.
A 2026 Launch for All Eight
Every one of these CNG automatics went on sale this year. Tata launched the new Punch with a CNG AMT on 13 January, and added the gearbox to the Altroz iCNG range on 11 May.
At that launch, Tata called the Altroz "the first and only premium hatchback in India" to offer a CNG automatic. Two rivals have since matched it, the Baleno in September and the Glanza in October.
The next-generation Tiago followed on 28 May, and the Aeris compact sedan on 25 September. Tata says the Aeris is meant only for private buyers and will never be sold to fleet operators, and it describes the launch prices as introductory.
The Tigor, which Tata sold with a CNG AMT on its XZ and XZ+ trims, is no longer listed on Tata's website. Its old web address now opens the Aeris page.
What the Automatic Costs

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tata Tiago | Pure | ₹6.58 lakh | ₹7.13 lakh | ₹55,000 |
| Tata Aeris | Pure | ₹7.15 lakh | ₹7.70 lakh | ₹55,000 |
| Maruti Suzuki Swift | VXi | ₹7.57 lakh | ₹7.92 lakh | ₹35,000 |
| Maruti Suzuki Baleno | Delta | ₹7.92 lakh | ₹8.32 lakh | ₹40,000 |

| Tata Punch | Pure + | ₹8.20 lakh | ₹8.77 lakh | ₹57,000 |

Maruti Suzuki charges the least for its AGS gearbox, ₹35,000 on the Swift and Dzire and ₹40,000 on the Baleno. Toyota asks ₹55,000 on the Glanza, ₹15,000 more than Maruti charges on the Baleno.
Tata's AMT adds ₹55,000 on the Tiago, Aeris and Altroz, and ₹57,000 on the Punch. On the Punch's top Accomplished + S trim, CNG is sold only with the AMT, at ₹10,76,990.
Efficiency Claims
Maruti Suzuki and Toyota publish official CNG efficiency figures for these cars, and in each case the automatic is rated slightly higher than the CNG manual. The Dzire's CNG automatic leads at 36.47 km/kg, against 35.63 km/kg for its manual.
Maruti calls the Dzire CNG automatic "India's most fuel-efficient sedan", citing a JATO Dynamics certification dated 18 September. The Swift CNG AGS is rated at 35.34 km/kg, and the Baleno and Glanza automatics at 34.47 km/kg.
Tata does not state a CNG efficiency figure for the Tiago, Aeris, Altroz or Punch on its website or in the launch releases for those models.
One SUV and Two Sedans
The Punch is the only SUV among the eight. Other CNG SUVs, including the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Brezza, Toyota Hyryder and Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG, come with a manual gearbox only.
Sedan buyers can pick between the Aeris and the Dzire. The Aeris CNG AMT starts ₹83,110 below the Dzire VXi CNG AGS, while the top Aeris Accomplished costs ₹21,290 more than the Dzire ZXi.
Rising CNG Demand
Maruti Suzuki said its CNG sales hit a monthly record of 83,000 units in July. Tata said in May that CNG penetration reached 22% in FY26, up from 19% in FY25.
