Hyundai Bayon Gets Six Airbags as Standard Ahead of 26 October Launch
Hyundai has not said which Bayon trims get the Level 2 ADAS suite, and its five-star safety claim rests on an internal assessment.

Every Hyundai Bayon will have six airbags, Hyundai Motor India said on 21 October, five days before the SUV's India launch on 26 October 2026.
The airbags are among more than 35 safety features that Hyundai says are standard across all variants. The others it names are electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, a roll-over sensor, ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors.
The standard list also covers seat belt reminders for the three-point belts, an emergency stop signal, central locking, a headlamp escort function and a burglar alarm. When Hyundai detailed the India-spec Bayon on 12 October, it gave no airbag count or driver assistance details.

Level 2 ADAS, Trims Not Yet Named
Hyundai calls the Bayon's driver assistance suite SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS. It has 23 functions and uses three radars and 12 parking sensors, according to the company. A footnote in the release says the features may vary by variant, and Hyundai has not said which trims get them.
| Type | Functions | Count |
|---|---|---|
| Forward collision | Forward Collision Warning; Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for cars, pedestrians, cyclists, junction turning and direct oncoming traffic | 6 |
| Blind spot | Blind-spot Collision Warning; Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist; Blind-spot View Monitor | 3 |
| Lane | Lane Departure Warning; Lane Keeping Assist; Lane Following Assist | 3 |
| Cruise and highway | Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go; Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control Zone and Curve; Highway Driving Assist | 4 |
| Reversing and parking | Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning; Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist; Surround View Monitor | 3 |
| Alerts | Driver Attention Warning; Safe Exit Warning; High Beam Assist; Leading Vehicle Departure Alert | 4 |
The two navigation-based cruise functions work only on expressways marked in the car's map data, another footnote says. Hyundai also lists front parking sensors and disc brakes on all four wheels, without saying whether they are standard.
Body Structure
The Bayon sits on what Hyundai calls the Global K Enhanced Platform. Hyundai says 69% of the body uses advanced high-strength steel grades, with hot-stamped steel used in the dashboard area, the front apron, the side reinforcements and the rear floor.
The release says the Bayon is engineered for five-star Indian safety standards. A footnote adds that this rests on Hyundai's internal assessment, and the company has not published a crash test rating. Fine print on the release banner says type approval has been applied for.
Ten Colours
Hyundai also confirmed ten exterior colours, including two matte finishes.
| Finish | Colours | Number |
|---|---|---|
| Monotone | Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze, Ecotronic Grey | 6 |
| Dual tone with black roof | Atlas White, Fiery Red | 2 |
| Matte | Titanium Black Matte, Classy Blue Matte | 2 |
Against the Venue and Creta
The Bayon matches Hyundai's other compact SUVs on airbags, as the Venue and Creta brochures both list six airbags as standard. Its driver assistance list is longer than the Venue compact SUV's, which Hyundai's brochure puts at 16 Level 2 features.
Highway Driving Assist and the navigation-based cruise functions are the Bayon's additions. Hyundai's brochures for the Venue and the larger Creta list neither.
Launch and Bookings
Bookings are open at ₹11,000, online and through Hyundai dealers. Power comes from a four-cylinder 1.5-litre petrol engine making 84.4 kW (115 PS) and 143.8 Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual or Hyundai's IVT automatic.
Hyundai says it will give the delivery timeline at the 26 October launch. It has not yet said which trims get the ADAS suite, the surround view camera or the matte colours.
