Hyundai Bayon's iVT Automatic Adds Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech
The Bayon shares its 1.5-litre petrol engine with the Creta and Verna, but Hyundai has still not given a fuel efficiency figure.

The Hyundai Bayon's iVT automatic will come with two new driving functions, Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech, Hyundai Motor India said on 23 October. Its India launch is set for 26 October 2026.
It is Hyundai's second Bayon release in three days, after the company set out the SUV's safety equipment on 21 October.
What the Two Functions Do
Hyundai says the boost function gives the car an instant surge of power and quicker response when the driver needs to pick up speed, such as during an overtake. Sporty Drive Tech is meant to make acceleration feel sharper and more involving, according to the company.
Both are tied to the iVT, Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission, and are not offered with the six-speed manual. Hyundai has not explained how either function changes the engine or gearbox behaviour, or how long the boost lasts.
Neither name appears in Hyundai's brochures for the Creta or the Verna, which use the same engine and the same iVT.
Paddles and Three Drive Modes
The Bayon also gets paddle shifters and three drive modes, Eco, Normal and Sport, chosen with a button on the steering wheel. Hyundai's footnote adds that equipment can differ between variants, and the company is yet to name the trims that get these controls.
Neither control is new to Hyundai. The brochure for the Creta's automatic variants lists paddle shifters and the same three modes on several of them, and the Verna's brochure lists both on some iVT trims.
The Engine Behind It
Power comes from Hyundai's four-cylinder MPi petrol unit of 1.5 litres, rated at 84.4 kW (115 PS) and 143.8 Nm. Hyundai says this engine has gone into more than 6 lakh of its vehicles sold in India since 2020.
| Model | Output | Gearboxes with this engine | Paddle shifters | Drive modes | Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bayon | 84.4 kW, 143.8 Nm | 6MT, iVT | Listed, trims not yet named | Eco, Normal, Sport | iVT only |
| Creta | 84.4 kW, 143.8 Nm | 6MT, iVT | Some automatic trims | Eco, Normal, Sport on some automatic trims | Not listed |
| Verna | 84.4 kW, 143.8 Nm | 6MT, iVT | Some iVT trims | Drive mode select on some iVT trims | Not listed |
Hyundai has named no other engine for the Bayon. The Creta is also sold with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel, while the Verna sedan adds a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a dual-clutch gearbox.
The smaller Venue does not offer an iVT at all. Its petrol automatic pairs a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with a dual-clutch gearbox.
Mileage and Deliveries
Hyundai has not yet published a fuel efficiency figure for the Bayon, in this release or in any of its five earlier Bayon releases.
The ₹11,000 booking window remains open on Hyundai's website and at its showrooms. Hyundai now says deliveries are set to begin during the festive season, with the exact timeline due at the 26 October launch.
