About The Honda Amaze 2nd Gen

The Honda Amaze 2nd Gen is the older shape of Honda's compact sedan, and Honda still sells it beside the newer third generation car. It comes in a single S grade, priced at ₹6.98 Lakh for the manual and ₹7.80 Lakh for the CVT, which makes it the cheapest Honda you can buy in India today.

Under the bonnet sits the same 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol as the new Amaze, making 90 PS and 110 Nm. You can have a five speed manual or a CVT automatic. Honda certifies the manual at 18.60 kmpl and the CVT at 18.30 kmpl, so here, unlike in the newer car, the manual is the thriftier of the two.

The boot is the surprise. Honda quotes 420 litres, a touch more than the 416 litres of the newer third generation Amaze, in a body that is 3995 mm long and sits on the same 2470 mm wheelbase. The S is plainly equipped, though: two airbags, ABS, ISOFIX mounts and rear parking sensors cover safety, and a 2DIN audio unit with Bluetooth replaces a touchscreen.

Comfort basics are all there. You get manual air conditioning with a heater, power windows all round, power-folding mirrors, a height-adjustable driver seat and a rear armrest with cupholders. What you give up next to the newer Amaze is the touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the extra four airbags and stability control. To see every item, read the Amaze 2nd Gen spec sheet.

It suits a buyer who wants a Honda sedan with a big boot for the least money and can live without the modern screen. Before you settle, check what it costs on the road in your city.
